A Window Into Our Past and Continued Evolution

Available For Sale!

Our journey in the bass community has been one of passion, ingenuity, and commitment to making instruments that stand the test of time. Over the years, we’ve built basses for players who challenged us to explore new ideas long before custom components and materials were as readily available as they are today. Back then, there were many schools of thought about what constituted a truly high-end instrument. Every build was a leap into uncharted territory, and every challenge was an opportunity to innovate.

We’re proud to say that our philosophy has endured. The instruments we created in those formative years weren’t just experiments — they were trailblazers that shaped who we are as a company. The fact that we’re still here today, pushing the envelope and evolving our designs, is a testament to the lasting value of these basses.

This page is dedicated to our Legacy Instruments: a collection of basses we’ve reacquired over the years, either back from the open market or directly from players who are no longer active. These instruments represent the character and spirit of a different era at New York Bass Works — before the modern conveniences we often take for granted — and they still have so much to offer.

Every bass in this collection has undergone our rigorous pre-owned certification process. All electronics (except for the flamed maple top deep Jazz 6) have been updated to today’s specifications, and each instrument is backed by a two-year warranty, ensuring you can take it to the stage or studio with total confidence.

Among the selection you’ll currently find three six-string basses and two left-handed five-string basses, each one telling its own story of craft, discovery, and tone. In addition to these unique offerings, we’ll continue to highlight other pre-owned instruments as they become available. Every bass here is more than just an instrument for sale — it’s a piece of our history and a reminder that a well-crafted instrument can inspire for generations.

We invite you to explore these one-of-a-kind basses and to appreciate the journey they represent. Thank you for your continued support and interest in the legacy that we continue to build — one bass at a time.
