A Resonant Revelation: Our Encounter with Trudeep Bass

This week, our workshop was graced by the presence of Tom Robotham, the visionary behind Trudeep Bass, and his son,James. Traveling from Boston, Tom reached out to us, expressing his interest in showcasing his handcrafted bass cabinets. Little did we know, this visit would be nothing short of transformative.

Upon their arrival, Tom unveiled three meticulously crafted cabinets, all ingeniously packed into the trunk of a modest hybrid vehicle. The moment these cabinets emerged, it was evident that we were witnessing something extraordinary. Each piece exuded a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that is seldom encountered.

Craftsmanship Meets Innovation

Tom's dedication to his craft is palpable. As both an artist and a bass player, he brings a unique perspective to cabinet design. His creations are not just instruments; they are a testament to what happens when passion meets precision.

The cabinets thoughtful construction is complemented by their innovative design. Trudeep Bass cabinets feature side-ported, long, and curved vents—a patent-pending design that ensures superb low-frequency response without the common issues of port "chuffing" or driver over-extension. This design allows the cabinets to deliver a rich, deep, and articulate sound that fills the room, providing the sonic depth of large rigs in a compact form.

An Auditory Experience Like No Other

As audiophiles, we're always in pursuit of that perfect sound. The moment we plugged in, the cabinets delivered. The 10"(10pm) model handled the low B with an ease and clarity that left us astonished. Even more impressive was the synergy when pairing the 10pm model with its extension cabinet (10x), enhancing the depth and richness of the sound. The 9" woofer model (9pm), though smaller, held its own, offering a versatile option for various setups.

Each cabinet operates at 8 ohms, providing flexibility for different configurations. The side-ported design not only enhances the low-end response but also ensures that the sound is felt as much as it's heard, enveloping the listener in a full-spectrum bass experience.

A Shared Philosophy

What struck us most was the parallel between Tom's approach to building cabinets and our philosophy in crafting basses. There's an emotional and intellectual connection to the work—a commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining standards. It's invigorating to witness such innovation in the bass cabinet space, a field that often sees incremental changes rather than bold leaps.
