George Panos: Early Adopter!

George Panos holds a special place in the history of New York Bass Works. As the very first customer to invest in the revolutionary NYBW 5-string bass, he demonstrated an unwavering belief in the craftsmanship and innovation behind our instruments. Builder David Segal adds, “ I had only built two 5 strings at that point and did not have a logo or even an original headstock design. George’s 5 was the first with both .” From the moment he put his money down for that 5-string bass, it was clear that George had an exceptional ear for quality and an eye for excellence.

As an amazing player and educator, George Panos possesses a deep understanding of the intricacies of bass playing. He effortlessly weaves complex melodies and grooves, setting himself apart as a true virtuoso in his field. With the NYBW 5-string in his hands, George's talents reached new heights, as he explored the extended range and tonal possibilities that our bass offered.

Not content with resting on his laurels, George's thirst for musical exploration led him to expand his arsenal with a NYBW 6-string bass. With this addition, he embraced a whole new dimension of creativity and expression. The 6-string opened up a world of opportunities for George, allowing him to explore deeper harmonies and reach even greater depths in his musical endeavors.

Despite being gigged on constantly, both of George's basses remain in his care, a testament to the durability and longevity of New York Bass Works instruments. Our dedication to crafting instruments that can withstand the rigors of a musician's life is evident in George's continued satisfaction with his basses, even after 20+ years of relentless use.

As an educator, George Panos undoubtedly inspires his students with his passion for music and the instruments he plays. Through his talent and teaching, he encourages the next generation of bassists to push their boundaries and strive for excellence in their own musical journeys.

George's story exemplifies the essence of New York Bass Works – an unwavering commitment to quality, a drive for innovation, and a belief in the transformative power of music. We are honored to have played a part in George Panos' musical odyssey and take immense pride in knowing that our instruments have accompanied him on countless stages and in countless studios, leaving an indelible mark on the world of bass playing.
